Pandora & the world, the world & Pandora

Climate change is upon us… And Pandora wants to do its part.

This morning Pandora issued a statement, revealing its goals for the future. Amongst them are plans for renewable energy and carbon neutrality.

Summarized:

  • Carbon neutral in own operations by 2025
  • 100% renewable energy at its crafting facilities by 2020
  • Committed to set a science-based target to reduce emissions across full value chain

So I think the first 2 goals are pretty straight forward, but the third definitely needs a little bit of explaining. Basically, they want to reduce emissions from suppliers. They will conduct some research to expand their knowledge on the subject of the carbon footprint of their suppliers. Based on that they will choose which suppliers they want to keep working with.

They already work with recycled metals and man-made stones, which is better for the environment than mined metals and stones.

Overall, they want to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

I think this is a fantastic initiative. Global warming is imminent and not enough large companies are doing their part, so it’s great to see that a large corporation, very close to my heart, is doing the best they can to be as carbon neutral as possible.
